As the school term comes to a close on 26 June, we would like to wish all our learners and families a joyful, restful, and memorable winter break. The past term has been filled with learning, laughter, friendships, and exciting discoveries, and we are incredibly proud of all that our children have achieved.

School holidays offer families a wonderful opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and create special memories together. Whether it is exploring a new destination, taking on an exciting challenge, or simply spending quality time at home, these experiences help children grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity.

To help families make the most of the winter recess, we have put together a list of exciting activities and destinations around Gauteng that offer something for everyone.

1. The Gauntlet at Fourways Mall

For children who love to climb, jump, and explore, The Gauntlet promises hours of excitement. This giant inflatable obstacle course challenges children to race through tunnels, scale obstacles, and test their agility in a safe and fun environment. It is the perfect outing for energetic youngsters looking for an adventure during the holidays.

6. Family Photography Day

Not every holiday activity needs to involve tickets or attractions. Choose a beautiful location such as a park, botanical garden, or nature reserve and spend the day taking photographs together. Allow children to become the family photographers and capture special moments through their eyes. The results often become treasured family memories.

7. Family Bake-Off

Turn your kitchen into a fun family competition. Whether baking cupcakes, biscuits, muffins, or bread, children love measuring ingredients, decorating treats, and tasting the finished product. Baking also helps develop early maths, science, and fine motor skills while creating wonderful memories together.

8. Backyard Camping

Create an adventure without leaving home by setting up a tent in the garden. Families can enjoy storytelling, games, hot chocolate, and stargazing under the winter sky. For young children, this often feels just as exciting as a traditional camping trip.

9. Prison Break Market

A visit to Prison Break Market offers families a relaxed day out with delicious food, open spaces, live entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere. Parents can enjoy browsing while children explore and take in the lively surroundings.

Making Holiday Memories That Last

While exciting outings are wonderful, it is often the simple moments that children remember most. Reading together, baking a favourite recipe, taking a walk, building a blanket fort, or enjoying a family movie night can create lasting memories and strengthen family bonds.

As the winter recess begins, we encourage all our families to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy one another’s company. The holidays provide a valuable opportunity for children to explore the world around them, try new experiences, and spend meaningful time with those they love.

From everyone at ChildSol, thank you for a fantastic term. We wish all our learners and families a safe, happy, and adventure-filled winter holiday, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term of learning and growth.

Happy Holidays and see you next term! ☺️
